The installation, like the residency’s topic, is based on communication, or lack thereof. A selection of sounds recorded at the residency broadcasted through low-tech car FM modulators. A rig of extension cables power adapters and modulators that hang above an empty room broadcasting 10 frequencies in close proximity. One can listen to the sounds if he/she has an FM radio; or a phone with built-in FM radio… and headphones. Most smartphones don’t have built-in FM radio. An online radio app won’t help. Wireless headphones don’t work as a radio antenna. One must make the effort and ask to borrow a suitable device from others. There’s often static, or the frequency drops. A purely voluntary experience that most likely requires communication.
